Arway Linen & Uniform Rental Service was started in 1979 with a handful of products, a few employees, and a lot of door knocking. Over the years we have grown our family owned-and-operated laundry exponentially in all aspects, all while continuing to provide our customers with the highest level of service.
We face a lot of challenges in our day-to-day operations and one of the biggest is our aging building and equipment which hinders our ability to stay ahead of production. In order to conquer that challenge, we decided the best move would be to find a bigger building and fill it with new, more automated equipment. This will allow us to stay ahead of production and better serve our customers.
Sitting on five acres of land in Port Richmond, our new building is a towering giant compared to the one we currently occupy. With over double the square footage, a great deal of ceiling height, a straight-through layout, and a large loading dock, it is the perfect space for us to spread out and work more effectively. The large footprint also leaves a great deal of room for newer, more sophisticated machinery which will allow us to produce at a faster and more efficient rate.
Our new building is laid out with one major goal at the forefront: utilizing automation to streamline our operation. From the new equipment, to the infrastructure, everything is geared towards efficiency. Utilizing the latest advances in laundry technology, we will be able to sort, wash, and finish our products at a rate we could only dream of in our current building. In addition, these new processes will create a safer, less physically demanding environment for our employees to work in.
Over the years we have made a significant effort to change equipment and processes to lessen our overall footprint on the environment. Our dedication to that goal will be expanded on greatly in our new building. We will be installing hundreds of solar panels which will allow us to contribute clean and renewable energy back into the power grid. We will continue to use clean-burning natural gas, but with the switch to thermal ironers and more efficient washers and dryers, we will be using a great deal less gas in general. Additionally, our water and electricity consumption will be nearly cut in half with these new processes and equipment.
